Advice about Spider & Insect Bites

Many Spiders and insects such as beetles have the capacity to bite and cause great pain and discomfort and requiring first aid. We have many spiders in the UK that can inflict very painful bites and some people can have significant reactions to them. Most people falsely believe we have no native poisonous spiders in the UK but what we don't have are any deadly spiders. Every year tropical species do enter the country in food stuffs and in baggage and clothing etc. If you suspect this then try to safely contain the spider and call us at once.

Beetles and other insects with articulating jaws are also able to bite and although painful are not dangerous because no venom or toxins are injected or delivered deep into the tissues. That said, other insects bite you in order to feed on your blood like fleas and bed bugs. Insect bites like those of Bedbugs penetrate your skin with a hollow tube whilst fleas simply pierce through the skin. Any insect bites however insignificant have the theoretical, potential to create an infection or reaction, so it is important to at the very least monitor the bite site to ensure that it does not become septic and if you have any concerns - contact your doctor. Many people show skin reactions to both flea and bedbug bites. Some of the very worst Insect Bites we see each year and fall victim to each year are those of the horse flies. The Insect Bite shown in the image above was inflicted by a horse fly.

The most important thing is to try and establish early intervention

Pest Control Advice:

Getting rid of Wasps and other insects like ants, fleas and bedbugs is not as simple as many pesticide manufacturers will lead you to believe. The chemicals or poisons on offer in supermarkets and shops often have a fraction of the effect that is achieved through professional products and this means you are likely to get through many cans of treatment without actually achieving full control. As the only Exeter pest control company offering a dedicated insect control service we are able to deliver pest control treatments that are often guaranteed to work.

Pest control is all about understanding the pest you are trying to eliminate or prevent. The Wasp for example creates a wasp nest early in the year so if you wanted to control wasps in Exeter you would probably guess that checking for a new wasp nest in your loft in April and May would allow you to remove a wasp nest safely before it became too large. By understanding your pest, you are able to plan control in advance, before infestation occurs and the cost of elimination becomes high.

WaspKill UK are here to help - so why not give us a call and put your trust in the experts.
